Dancehall icon Brigadier Jerry facing gun-related charges in the US

The Waterbury Police in Connecticut have confirmed that dancehall icon Brigadier Jerry has been charged in relation to a shooting over three days ago.

He has been charged with first-degree robbery, reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal transfer of a pistol and altering a serial number on a firearm.

The artiste, whose real name is Robert Russell, is being held on US$250,000 bond.

Waterbury police say the artiste suspected that someone had stolen his wallet earlier during a card game.

He reportedly left the location and returned with a gun, then the 62 year-old entertainer allegedly fired a shot into a wall.

'Brigadier Jerry' is the brother of another popular musician, Sister Nancy.
