Cabinet to sign off on Boyd’s replacement
Efforts will begin on Monday to identify a new Chairman for the FINSAC Commission of Enquiry.
A senior Government official told RJR’s Financial Report Sunday night that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, a Chairman could be announced in a matter of days as a replacement for retired Jurist, Justice Boyd Carey, has already been identified.
The official said even as the Government considers a replacement it will also have to review the ruling handed down last week which barred Justice Carey, from leading the FINSAC Commission.
Cabinet will discuss the court ruling when it meets on Monday.
The matter is being dealt with urgently to ensure the Government complies with the ruling to reconvene the FINSAC hearings, in a matter of weeks.
Justice Carey was barred after the Judicial Review Court determined that he was a Financial Sector Adjustment Company debtor and could therefore not serve as Chairman of the investigative body.
