Ground breaking for the Morant Bay Urban Centre and the Naggo Head Technology Park developments is expecting to be done by March.
That's the word from Chairman of the Factories Corporation of Jamaica (FCJ) Lyttleton 'Tanny' Shirley.
According to Shirley, the company is underway with its three major enterprise projects; the development of the Morant Bay Urban Centre, the Naggo Head Technology Park and the redevelopment of the Garmex Freezone and Commercial Complex.
As it relates to the Morant Bay Urban Centre and the Naggo Head Technology Park developments, which will both run concurrently, FCJ is awaiting final approval from the Public Investment Management Secretariat, following which the projects will head to Cabinet for final approval.
While that process is underway, a Joint Venture Agreement has been completed, with a partner being identified.
The outline approval for the Naggo Head development has also been received. Diagrams have also been completed and FCJ is awaiting approval from Municipal Corporations.
The Factories Corporation is also awaiting the completion of the environmental survey from the National Environment and Planning Agency.
