Private equity fund, InterEnergy Holdings, has added another Jamaican independent power company to its group.
It announced on Wednesday that it has acquired the Jamaica Private Power Company (JPPC) for $4 billion.
JPPC, which is a 60 megawatt power plant located in Rockfort, Kingston, utilizes slow-speed diesel generators to produce electricity for sale to the national grid.
InterEnergy Holdings' other local subsidiary, Jamaica Energy Partners, will assume management of all JPPC assets.
This acquisition expands the group's total generating capacity and retains its position as the largest independent power provider.
