Jamaica, Cuba agree measures to enhance trade, investment

Jamaica and Cuba have agreed to establish groups comprising inter-ministerial and private sector representatives to begin preparatory work in the areas of  trade, investment, and transport.
     
This follows a visit by a trade mission to Cuba, led by Anthony Hylton, Jamaica's Minister of Industry, Investment & Commerce, more than a week ago.
   
Mr, Hylton, speaking at a press conference in Kingston on Wednesday, said he has invited Cuba’s Trade and Investment Minister to visit Jamaica in September for further discussions. Additionally, There's to be a framework agreement between Jamaica’s Special Economic Zone and Cuba’s Mariel Special Economic Development Zone, both of which will be established later this year.
   
Other opportunities for cooperation in areas such as tourism, finance, and manufacturing, will also be explored.
