Mixed reactions to court ruling on Carey & FINSAC Enquiry
There have been mixed reactions from a group of persons who assets were taken over by Financial Sector Adjustment Company (FINSAC) to news that retired Justice Boyd Carey, Chairman of the Commission of Enquiry into the financial sector collapse, has been removed from the post.
Attorney David Wong-Ken, who represents the Association of Finsac'd Entrepreneurs, says there are aspects of the ruling that are regrettable.
However, he says he is pleased that the Commission of Enquiry will be allowed to continue.
“It seems to be a mixed blessing … on the one hand Justice Carey has been removed as Commissioner and RNA Henriques has been removed as the attorney for the Commission. Nonetheless, the court indicated that the Enquiry could continue even with the two commissioners.
“While we regret Mr. Carey being removed, we’re satisfied that the Commission can continue doing its work,” he said.
