Oil prices surged as much as two per cent on Tuesday after a severe disruption to Libyan oil supplies and as officials suggested OPEC could extend its production cuts deal to the end of the year.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 78 cents, or 1.6 per cent, to $48.51 a barrel.
