Mavado accused of inciting chaos at Guyana concert
Dancehall artiste, Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, is being accused of inciting violence at the recent concerts staged as part of the ‘Jamzone Summer Break Weekend’ in Guyana.
The promoters say there were security breaches inside the stadium where the concerts were held, saying some of those breaches were beyond their control.
They said they imported security rails from Trinidad and Tobago to secure the VIP area, and that it managed to hold off crowds until Jamaican singer, Mavado performed.
It is alleged that Mavado encouraged people to “come over the rails” while he was on stage, causing a mad rush as hundreds of people tried to get closer.
The promoters say they allowed the show to continue because they feared they might trigger a bigger upset if they brought it to a sudden end.
Patrons were reportedly robbed in the VIP area while Mavado was on stage headlining the regional night concert.
The organizers say they have since apologized to the patrons who approached them.
