Reggae Sumfest incident free
The police in St. James are reporting that the just ended three day staging of Reggae Sumfest at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay was for the most part incident free.
According to the police, except for a few minor incidents, it was smooth sailing over the weekend.
The police were out in full force inside and outside the venue between Thursday night and Sunday morning.
Several persons were taken into custody for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act after they brazenly attempted to sell marijuana outside the Catherine Hall venue.
A few pickpockets, who tried to take advantage of the crowded entrance, had no such luck as the police were on them in a flash, and a few were taken into custody.
No artiste was arrested this year for use of profanity making it one of the cleanest SumFest stagings.
Prior to the Festival, the police had warned artistes to clean up their act as the use of profanity and calls for attacks on any group would not be tolerated.
Several thousand persons braved the rains and muddy conditions underfoot to attend Thursday's dancehall night and two nights of international flavour featuring American performers Chris Brown and Usher and several local stars.
