Court blocks JLP from filling NW St Ann caretaker position

The Supreme Court has granted an injunction blocking the Jamaica Labour Party from going ahead with its decision to remove former North West St Ann MP, Othneil Lawrence as caretaker/candidate for the constituency.
The injunction was granted a shortwhile ago by Mr Justice Courtney Day.
Mr Lawrence had filed a lawsuit against JLP leader Andrew Holness and General Secretary Dr Horace Chang after the party wrote to him on November 5, informing him of the decision to remove him.
Mr Lawrence claimed that the decision to remove him is a breach of the party's constitution.
He is contending that he was removed because of  his support for Audley Shaw in the Party's leadership race last year.
Mr Lawrence's attorney Hugh Wildman says the injunction blocks the party from removing Mr Lawrence until the lawsuit is heard.
The matter is set for December 11.
