Court frees West Kingston businessman

A West Kingston businessman accused of  pulling a firearm on a police team two years ago was yesterday freed when he appeared before the Gun Court.
 
The judge, who handed down the not guilty verdict, said there were inconsistencies in the evidence presented in the court.
 
The police report that in May 2016, two cops from the Traffic Headquarters were travelling on Church Street when they approached three men.
 
One of  the men pulled a firearm on them.
 
Narado Kirkpatrick otherwise called 'Cheese Trix Man' was detained.
 
He was pointed out in an identification parade by a witness and one of  the police officers.
 
Kirkpatrick was charged with assault at common-law and illegal possession of  a firearm. 
 
The Judge noted that the description of  the man the witness claimed he saw was inconsistent with that of  the accused.
 
The credibility of  the police officer was also questioned as his testimony was said to be inconsistent with the evidence in court.
 
Kirkpatrick was represented by Tom Tavares Finson and Donahue Martin Junior.
