The police have confirmed that Roosevelt Thomas, the father of the three year old girl whose body was found at Dump Up Beach in St. James on Tuesday, was found dead Thursday night.
He was found with bullet wounds in a building along Joan Avenue in Glendevon, St. James shortly after 10 o'clock.
Assistant Commissioner Winchroy Budhoo, Head of the Area One Police Division, says Mr. Thomas was identified Friday morning, some minutes after 10 o'clock.
Mr. Thomas, who turned himself in to the St. James police Wednesday evening, escaped on Thursday afternoon while being interviewed by the police, in the company of his attorney.
Meanwhile, ACP Budhoo says the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Mr. Thomas' death.
"We don't have any information in terms of who did it, etc, more than to say that explosions were heard and the police responded and the body was seen," he said.
A team from the Inspectorate of the Constabulary and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency are continuing the probe into his escape from police custody Thursday.
