Fire Brigade gets ambulances

The ministries of Local Government and Health have partnered to provide the Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) with ambulances.

This will boost firefighters' capabilities to assist persons who sustain injuries in motor vehicle accidents and other mishaps.

Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie, said the Fire Brigade's role goes beyond extinguishing fires, pointing out that they also respond to major accidents.

One of the ambulances was handed over to the Hanover Municipal Corporation on Friday.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Mr. McKenzie lamented the high incidents of traffic crashes, particularly in western Jamaica which he said accounted for a significant percentage of overall road fatalities.
