Global Gateway Solutions responds to suit filed by Minnesota AG

Global Gateway Solutions, a Jamaica-based business process outsourcing (BPO) company, has issued a response in the wake of a lawsuit filed against it by the Attorney General for Minnesota in the US.

Global Gateway Solutions in a statement on Friday said it is one of Jamaica's oldest locally-owned call centres and not a debt collection agency.

It said its clients include customer service agencies, sales entities and licensed debt collection agencies.

Global Gateway said its employees call customers on behalf of its clients, using a script provided and approved by the client.

Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson has claimed that Global Gateway is hounding Minnesota residents with phony debt collection calls.

Ms. Swanson said the company has bullied residents to pay off debts they did not owe. She described it as a scam.

Minnesota law requires debt collectors to provide debt verification and allow people to dispute those debts.
