Investigators probing killing of PNP Patriots member

Superintendent Wayne Cameron, head of the St. Andrew South Police

Investigators are trying to ascertain what led to the killing of 44 year old Kevin Brown, a Justice of the Peace and member of the PNP's young professional arm, the Patriots.

Mr. Brown was attacked on Chesterfield Drive in St. Andrew Wednesday night.

Reports earlier surfaced that he was shot.

However, Superintendent Wayne Cameron, head of the St. Andrew South Police, told RJR News Thursday afternoon that the circumstances which led to Mr. Brown's death are unclear.

"We believe the perpetrator must have been inside the vehicle...so contrary to what you're hearing out there that he was dragged from the vehicle, we don't believe that is true. So he was attacked inside his vehicle and then he ran from the vehicle. We are not even too certain of the type of injuries that he has received and so we are going to await a postmortem examination," he revealed.

It was reported that about 8:45 pm, Mr. Brown was seen running along Chesterfield Drive, crying for help.

He had several wounds.

Mr. Brown was pronounced dead at hospital.
