MoJ reports success in human trafficking reduction

The Ministry of Justice is reporting success in its efforts to reduce the number of human trafficking cases islandwide.

At a media briefing, it was revealed that, over a five year period, 82 victims have been rescued.

Justice Ministry officials noted that three prostitution rings have been dismantled, while 30 suspected traffickers have been arrested.

The Ministry also pointed out that, so far, five convictions have been secured against individuals involved in human trafficking, with 18 cases still before the court.

Since the start of this year, five alleged traffickers have been charged and there has been one conviction.

She has been identified as Oshin Morgan, and she will be sentenced later this year.
