Parish judges criticise police, court staff in St. Elizabeth

Police officers in St. Elizabeth along with members of the St. Elizabeth Court staff continue to come in for criticism from judges operating in the parish.

The latest round of criticisms came on Friday during a sitting of the Traffic Court in Santa Cruz.

Presiding Parish Judge John Thyme was critical of the court staff for placing a matter on the list for trial before disclosure is made to defence attorneys.

He also made similar remarks of police officers, who, after several court appearances, failed to complete case files.

A number of cases which are before the St. Elizabeth Parish Court are yet to be completed due to the absence of statements from witnesses and the police.

This has resulted in the cases being stalled.
