PNP says it is ready for Sunday's candidate selection in Central Westmoreland

The Secretariat of the governing People's National Party (PNP) has declared that all is in place for Sunday's selection of a candidate to represent the party in the upcoming by-election in the constituency of Central Westmoreland.

Party delegates in the constituency will vote for either of the two candidates - Michael Erskine, an attorney, and businessman Dwayne Vaz, during the selection exercise, scheduled to take place at Mannings School in the parish capital, Savanna-la-Mar.

PNP General Secretary Paul Burke told RJR News that "only delegates will be allowed into the Mannigs School, during voting hours - 10am-3pm."

There will be five polling stations - one for each of the five Parish Council divisions in the constituency, he explained, adding that all delegates will need to produce their National Identification Card in order to be allowed to vote.

The winner of the contest should be known by 4:30pm, Mr. Burke said.
