Police: No report of incident involving machete in St. Mary South Eastern

The St. Mary Police Division says it has not received a report of any incident involving a machete in Lewis Store in St. Mary South Eastern where a by-election will take place on October 30.

In a statement Wednesday morning, the PNP said it received reports that at least one person was chopped and had been admitted in hospital due to the incident.

The PNP said the feud is an internal war between JLP partisans.

It added that there has been an outbreak of violence in the community due to a bushing programme which it claims is a vote buying scheme.

However, the police say they have not received any report of any altercation involving a machete or any outbreak of violence in the constituency.

The police say they will be stepping up their surveillance in the area.

They are also urging persons to report incidents for matters to be investigated.
