St.Thomas Parish Council says no evidence to support claims of untreated water causing illness

An investigation by a team from the St. Thomas Parish Council has declared it has not found any evidence to support reports that persons in the parish have been falling ill after drinking untreated water.
Checks were carried out by the Council yesterday following a claim by Jamaica Labour Party caretaker for St. Thomas Eastern, Delano Seiveright, of  a looming health crisis due to the water shortage caused by the dry spell. A probe is also being carried out the Health Ministry.

Secretary Manager of  the St. Thomas Parish Council, Errol Greene, says a thorough investigation was conducted but there was nothing to confirm the claim of  persons falling ill.

In the meantime, the St. Thomas Parish Council says measures are in place to ensure that communities continue to receive properly treated water, especially in light of  the dry spell.
