Tufton wants action taken following report of construction at Savanna-La-Mar Hospital

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton wants action to be taken following his acceptance of a report on the investigation into construction activities at the pediatric ward at Savanna-La-Mar Hospital in Westmoreland.

He has asked the Western Regional Health Authority to take the necessary action under the Human Resource and Industrial Relations guidelines of the ministry.

Dr. Tufton has also asked the regional health authority to submit in one month, a proposal on how future renovations should take place in public health facilities.

Dr. Tufton ordered a probe after a video surfaced showing construction activities taking place at the pediatric ward while it was occupied by patients.

The investigation concluded that there was a breach of the work plan.
