Two cops sent to prison for corruption

Two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) were sent to prison on Friday after the Appeal Court rejected their appeals on corruption charges.

The cases involved Sergeant Patrick Williams and Constable Roger Forrester.

Forrester was convicted in 2008 of collecting $30,000 to dismiss a criminal case in the Montego Bay Criminal Court. He was held during a sting operation by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch while collecting the money in the car park of the court.

Forrester was sentenced to 18 months in prison; however, the Appeal Court has reduced the sentence to 12 months.

Williams was caught collecting money in a traffic case in 2008. He was sentenced to 12 months behind bars.
