Church group reaches out to traumatized citizens
An umbrella church group feels that recent events in Jamaica have given the country a perfect opportunity to pause and take steps to make things better.
Acting Convener of the Church Umbrella Group, Reverend Lenworth Anglin, believes that the unrest in Western Kingston, the economic recession and other incidents of social upheaval have hurt the nation.
He says it is time for national healing.
“Within the more troubled communities people are dealing with emotional psychological spiritual and economic challenges. We need time for this kind of focused attention working with persons and ministering to persons and making a statement to the nation about the role of the church and our ability to care for those who are hurting,” Reverend Anglin said.
The group has planned a series of religious events in various communities which will culminate with a National Day of Healing on September 26.
