Fiery Federation President under investigation for conference remarks
The Chairman of the Police Federation Sergeant Raymond Wilson appears to have found himself in hot water with the leadership of the Police Force this afternoon following his recent bashing of the Bruce Golding led government.
The Inspectorate Division of the Force has launched an investigation to determine whether Sergeant Wilson breached the force's regulation.
This was confirmed by the head of the division, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Charles Scarlett.
“The Jamaica Constabulary Force is governed by the Jamaica Constabulary Force Act and the Police Service Regulations Act of 1961 and the Book of Rules. My office is of the view that the comments attributed to or made by the Chairman of the Federation in an investigatable matter and in that context we are llokg at if any breaches have been committed,” DCP Scarlett said.
He declined to say whether the executive of the Police Federation is also under investigation as Sergeant Wilson made the damaging comment at the Federation's annual conference.
“Well we investigating the matter and we will make a determination based on what evidence is found and that will inform what action is taken from there,” he said.
At the Federation’s conference earlier this month, Sergeant Wilson accused the Government of blatant corruption and support of criminals at the expense of those tasked with enforcing the law.
He also told delegates that the Bruce Golding administration had shown scant regard for the welfare of the organisation's members and the JCF on the whole.
The comments have drawn fire from the leadership of the Jamaica Labour Party with a scathing release from General Secretary Karl Samuda.
It is not known whether the JLP or the government had written to the Police Commissioner about the matter.
Late Thursday afternoon, Sergeant Wilson and members of the central executive were locked in an emergency meeting and could not be reached for comment.

Dont just talk about the Golding admin but the commissioner and what he is doing to the hardworking members who are accuse of wrong doings and freed by the court .
Listen all is Mr. Wilson a Jamaican? Any well thinking Jamaican who can no longer stomach the filth that is being exuded by the political directorate has a right to talk out about it. Let us stop being hypocrites and bawl out the nastiness that has been going on in both parties. Question : Did Golding know dudus personally ? Give the people of Jamaica a break. Credit us with some good sense and stop wasting time about the things that are true. THE TRUTH ALWAYS HURTS.
