Town and Country Planning Act coming
The government is moving closer to passing a new law which will give parish councils more enforcement authority in development planning.
The Town and Country Planning Bill, which is at the drafting stage, is intended to eliminate overlaps and unnecessary procedures by creating streamlined processes for administering planning and regulatory functions.
Daryl Vaz, Information Minister, says much progress is being made to ensure the successful passage of the bill.
“In terms of where we are with this bill, a stakeholder committee has reviewed the comments of the Attorney General and will be reviewing other pieces of legislation to asses their impact on the proposed bill as well as research new provisions and features in other planning jurisdictions,” he said.
Mr. Vaz added that the Government intends to pass the bill this fiscal year.
