Businessman selected PNP Region 3 Chairman
Yet another businessman has declared his intention to enter representational politics on a People's National Party (PNP) ticket.
The latest aspirant is businessman Andre Hylton, Managing Director of Andre's Auto Supplies.
Mr. Hylton was officially presented to party members during Sunday's annual meeting of the PNP's Region Three Executive Council.
The long-time automotive dealer says it is now time for more well-thinking Jamaicans to come off their verandahs, and get involved with the running of the country.
“I think it’s a position of honour and I think that if you’re going to make change, one of the major ways of making that change is to get into Parliament and initiate those changes. I think Jamaicans are looking for something new, something different and I think the mood of the country calls for a lot of young leaders, businessmen and businesswomen to get involved and stop criticising from the fence, so I decided and I wanted to continue my work in community building,” Mr. Hylton explained.
He is seeking to wrest the Eastern St. Andrew Seat, from the Jamaica Labour Party's Dr. St. Aubyn Bartlett.
Meanwhile, the business session of the Annual Regional Executive Councils wasted little time in ratifying the re-election of the outgoing chairpersons.
Among those re-elected as chairpersons was Lisa Hanna, for the PNP's Region One.
Also re-elected were Morris Guy, Chairman of Region Two; Phillip Paulwell, Region Three Chairman; Wentworth Skefferey, Chairman of Region Five and Dr. D.K. Duncan, Region Six Chairman.
Region Four which comprises the parishes of St. Catherine and Clarendon, will host its eeting on Sunday, August 29.
