PNPYO to begin public protest against the Govt
The youth arm of the Opposition People's National Party (PNP) will on Monday carryout its threat to start mounting public events as a sign of protest against the Bruce Golding administration's handling of the Manatt Affair.
The PNP Youth Organization (YO) has organised a candle light vigil for Monday night starting at 6:30.
The vigil is slated to last for three hours and will be held in front of the Paul Bogle Statue in Morant Bay, St. Thomas.
The YO says the ongoing saga involving the hiring of US law firm Manatt, Phelps and Phelps in the extradition of Christopher "Dudus" Coke has severely compromised Prime Minister Golding and it will be insisting that he step down.
Everton Maitland, PNPYO Chairman for Region Two, is insisting that the organization will not let up on Mr. Golding or his Government.
“We’re having a vigil against the Government for the mismanagement of the country and specifically against the lies and misleading information the Government, especially Prime Minister Bruce Golding, continue to give us. This protest will involve the comrades from both east and west St. Thomas and Dmaion Crawford, YO President, will address the crowd,” Mr. Maitland said.
He added that the vigil will be the first in a series of events organised by the PNPYO against the Government.
