TT government to make food security priority
Minister Dookeran assessed the revitalisation of agriculture locally.
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago wants Caribbean food production to be a priority issue.
Trinidadian Finance Minister Winston Dookeran made the point during Wednesday's budget presentation as he assessed the revitalisation of agriculture locally.
“Food sovereignty is a national requirement in today’s uncertain world. It demands that we explore Caribbean framework in which sustainable solutions can be found. Previous attempts have lacked the political will. The People’s Partnership Government will reflect a new political will in this regard,”
“We shall confront this issue head on and place it on the agenda of the wider Caribbean, the issue of food sovereignty for the region,” Minister Dookeran said.
