Another athlete tests positive for a banned substance

Jamaica is now set to lose its World Indoor mile relay bronze achieved in Doha, Qatar earlier this year after quarter-miler Bobby Gaye Wilkins was slapped with a two year suspension for using the banned substance andarine. 

Wilkins, who celebrates her 22nd birthday on September 10, had returned a positive test at the 13th IAAF World Indoor Championship, held from March 12 to 14 this year.

Second vice president of the Jamaica Amatuer Athletics Association (JAAA), Dr. Warren Blake, who served as a team leader and doctor for the team to Doha, confirmed Wilkins' suspension.

Wilkins two year suspension will run from April 9, 2010 to April 8, 2012.

The other members of the mile relay team, which returned a national record of three minutes 28.46 seconds at the World Indoors were Clora Williams, Davita Prendergast and Novlene Williams-Mills.

Wilkins, who now resides in the United States, was also a member of Jamaica's relay pool which won the Olympic bronze medal at the 2008 games in Beijing.
