Three more medals for JA at CAC Games
Jamaica's overall medal tally at the 21st Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico stands at 38 following three medals in track and field and one in taekwondo Thursday evening.
In track and field, the team of Kenroy Anderson, Oshane Bailey, Rasheed Dwyer and Lerone Clarke took the silver in the men's 4x100 metres relay final clocking 38.78 seconds behind Trinidad and Tobago who produced a championship record 38.24 seconds to win.
The quartet of Audria Segree, Jovanee Jarrett, Andrea Bliss and Anastasia Le-Roy took bronze in the women’s 4x100 metres relay in a season best 44.27seconds.
The event was won by hosts Puerto Rico in 43.46 seconds.
Olympian Aldwyn Sappleton posted one minute 48.12 seconds to earn the bronze in the men's 800 metres final won by Venezuelan Eduar Villanueva in one minute 47.73 seconds.
Wilbert Walker produced 6.65 metres for fourth place in the men's triple jump which was won by Leevan Sands of the Bahamas with 17.21 metres.
Smith ahead in the decathlon
2007 world championship silver medalist Maurice Smith leads the decathlon with 4,229 points after five events entering Friday’s final day of track and field action.
Jovannee Jarrett will contest the women's long jump final while the men's and women's 4x400 metres relay final will also be contested.
Jamaica lead the track and field medal table with 21 medals including 7 gold.
