Bailey-Cole recovers from Zik-V symptoms

London Olympic sprint relay gold medallist and Commonwealth Games 100m champion Kemar Bailey-Cole says he’s over the Zika-like symptoms, which started affecting him since last Wednesday and is now focused on the upcoming JAAA Supreme Ventures National Championships.

Bailey-Cole, who said he had not been the doctor for a diagnosis of the virus, which is linked to serious birth defects, says he's now targeting a top three finish in the 100m at the senior trials which start on Thursday, June 30.

“Well, I can tell you that I am feeling a little better now that the rashes and pain are gone and I’m now looking forward to the trials. I always put my mind and myself towards finishing in the top three,”said Bailey-Cole.

Checks by RJR Sports with the connections of Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Warren Weir, who all train with Bailey-Cole, revealed that they have not displayed any of the sympstoms associated with the Zica virus.

Fears over Zika, which is linked to serious birth defects, have led to several golfers, including Rory McIlroy, withdrawing from Rio 2016.
