The Inter Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) is now in search of a new communications sponsor for the nation's premier high school track and field meet, the Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships. This follows the decision by associate sponsor and telecommunications giants, FLOW not to renew their sponsorship of the prestigious 5-day championships.
In a release on Thursday afternoon, FLOW announced that it had decided not to renew its sponsorship with ISSA for “Champs” which had ended in March 2018, and that they were looking to chart the path for the next chapter of their investment in local sports.
ISSA officials have declined to comment on the matter but RJR Sports understands that rival telecommunications giants Digicel has not replaced FLOW as sponsor as reported elsewhere and that such a move was unlikely. FLOW had announced a 3 year $81 million sponsorship of “Champs” back in 2016, which had doubled previous sponsorship of the event.
Their departure ends a 10 year association with “Champs”. The latest pullout by FLOW follows their discontinuation of sponsorship for ISSA's schoolboy football products.
