Former MLB star looking to spread baseball in Jamaica

Voice of Jamaican-born former MLB star Devon White

Jamaican Devon White, who achieved baseball stardom when he led the Toronto Blue Jays to successive World Series crowns in 1993-94, is hoping to inspire another local to embrace the sport.

White conducted a three-day seminar at DeCarteret College where participants between the ages of 9 and 12 were introduced to the basics of the game.

“Getting the youths at a young age and getting them involved in sport is going to be great. We have brough uniforms down, shorts, t-shirts, gloves, bags to get them to start the game. We can’t just start and stop; we’ve got to keep them motivated and go forward from there,” said White.
