Young jockey recovering from Caymanas accident
Just over two weeks after sustaining head injuries at Caymanas Park and subsequent surgery, apprentice jockey Kareem Richardson-Garvey is speaking again.
The young rider, who is still bedridden at the University Hospital of the West Indies, had undergone surgery on August 26.
Richardson-Garvey had fallen from his mount in the second race of the mid-week card on August 25, but he cannot remember what happened.
Garvey, who will celebrate his 19th birthday in two weeks, is harbouring hope of returning to race riding as soon as possible.
Richardson-Garvey, who graduated from the jockey's school in August 2009, has two wins to his name from 57 rides.
