Jamaica qualifies its men's and women's teams to sprint relay finals

Jamaica took its place in four relay finals on the men's and women's side at the 15th IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Beijing, China.

Following the qualification of the women's and men's 4x400 metre relay teams to Saturday's finals, the sprint relay quartets joined them in Saturday's finals.

The women led by Sherone Simpson, Natasha Morrison, Kerron Stewart and Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce clocked a world leading 41.84 secs to win and advance. Great Britain was second in 42.48 secs ahead of Canada 42.60.

The United States won the second semifinal in 42:00 ahead of Trinidad & Tobago 42.24 and the Netherlands third in 42.32 secs.

Russia (43.09) and Germany (42.64) also advanced to the final.

In the second men's semifinals, Jamaica clocked 37.41 secs to take their place in the final. The qualifying team comprised Nesta Carter, Asafa Powell, Rasheed Dwyer and Nickel Ashmeade in that order. France was second, 37.88, and China third 37.92.

The United States also advanced with Bromwell, to Gatlin, to Gay to Rodgers in 37.91 secs. Great Britain 38.20 and Germany 38.57 aslo made progress.
