JCA seeks to promote community initiatives

Voice of JCA board member Baron 'Barry' Watson

The Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) is seeking to promote community initiatives, like the Owen Graham Cricket Academy in Manchester in rebuilding the sport across the island.

The academy at the Comfort Cricket Club, was re-launched at the weekend with two new nets opened. JCA board member Baron 'Barry' Watson outlined the significance of the academy which started  two years ago.

“Jamaica don’t win Under 15 for the last five years and it’s becoming a problem to some of us in the cricket and Mr (Oneil) Cruickshank (JCA’s Chief Operations Officer) was saying to me leave that (winning) alone and let us see if we can plan programs to develop youngsters so this academy is just in line with some of the plans the JCA has to develop cricket,” said Watson.

National representative Gary Graham whose uncle started the academy, is carrying the mantle.
