Reggae Boyz drop in FIFA rankings

After breaking into the top 50 earlier this year, the Reggae Boyz have dropped to number 54 in the latest edition of the FIFA World rankings. Jamaica were as high as 48th in the world in April but with the Boyz inactive in May and June, it has caused the team to fall behind the likes of Bulgaria and Burkina Faso. Despite their fall, Jamaica remains at number four in CONCACAF and number one in the Caribbean.

Mexico is number one in CONCACAF followed by Costa Rica and the United States. Jamaica's highest FIFA ranking was 27th which they achieved in August of 1998. The next competitive action for the Reggae Boyz will be the inaugural CONCACAF League of Nations set for September.

In that event, Jamaica will play the Cayman Islands, Bonaire, Suriname and El Salvador in their opening four games. The top ten in the world only saw two changes as 2010 World Cup champions Spain dropped from 8th to 10th while Poland moved up to 8th from 10th.

Defending World Cup champions Germany lead the way followed by Brazil, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, Switzerland, France, Poland, Chile and Spain.
