Darren Sammy has been sacked as captain of the St Lucia Stars following a run of six successive matches without a victory in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League.
Shane Watson, the former Australia all-rounder, takes over the leadership of the team and will be assisted by his new deputy, Jamaica's Marlon Samuels. Sammy is however expected to remain a part of the St Lucian team.
The two time West Indies T-20 World Cup winning captain has had a good tournament so far including scoring a valiant fifty against the Barbados Tridents and has the second highest aggregate of runs for the Stars. Sammy captained the St Lucian franchise for 40 matches across five seasons.
