Saratoga Sight lands feature event at Caymanas Park

Commentary by Track Announcer Brian Rickman

The even-money favourite Saratoga Sight under leading jockey Christopher Mamdeen for trainer Gary Subratie, landed the Reynold "Ren" Gonzalves Memorial Cup for Overnight Allowance runners over 10 furlongs, the feature event on Thursday's Labour Day programme at Caymanas Park.

Saratoga Sight who missed the break, quickly got back into contention and eventually held off a challenge in the stretch drive from the second choice Bruce Wayne. Eelsewhere, Armageddon with jockey Odean Edwards for trainer Rowan Mathie, created a 6-1 mild upset in the high claimers contest over 5 furlongs straight for the Labour Day Trophy.

Former champion jockey Shane Ellis and Robert Halledeen each had a double on the programme. Racing continues on Saturday with the feature event being the 79th running of the Governor's Cup, the last major prep for next month's Jamaica Derby.
