Tallawahs crash out of 2018 CPL

The Jamaica Tallawahs are out of contention in this year’s CPL after going down to the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by two wickets in their eliminator at the Pridicence Stadium in Guyana on Wednesday evening. The Patriots who were chasing 192 to win, eventually squeezed home at 193-8 with one ball remaining.

Anton Devitch led the way for the Patriots with a top-score of 50 off 23 balls while skipper Chris Gayle made 26 off 30 deliveries. Ish Sodhi claimed 3-36 and Oshane Thomas 3-43 bowling for the Tallawahs.

Earlier, the Jamaica Tallawahs posted 191-5 from their 20 overs after being sent in to bat. Glen Phillips brought up the second T20 century of his career as he scored 103 from 63 balls. He got support from Ross Taylor who chipped in with 33 runs from 23 balls. The Patriots will take on defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders in the second playoff qualifier on Friday in Trinidad. The winner of this game will await the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final on Sunday.
