"Tappa" says no fallout in Reggae Boyz camp despite marathon post game meeting

Voice of Reggae Boyz head coach Theodore "Tappa" Whitmore

Reggae Boyz head coach Theodore “Tappa” Whitmore has assured fans that there is no controversy brewing in the camp following an hour and a half-long meeting which took place after their 1-1 draw against Guyana in their final match in League 'B' of the CONCACAF Nations League on Monday. The result meant the Reggae Boyz just missed out on a perfect record in the group.

But if a 90 minute meeting following the match raised any questions of a fallout in the camp, coach Whitmore was quick to deny any such suspicions. "I don’t think we’ll be seeing most of the players for the rest of the year. We have to keep them grounded; talk to them about the plans for year 2020 and how important it is going to be. It’s a meeting where we got their feedback on how we can improve as players and technical staff going forward,” said Whitmore.

The Guyanese went in front in the 45th minute through a strike from Emery Welshman before Javon East scored his first international goal to equalize for the Jamaicans in the 50th minute.

The Reggae Boyz who were conceding their first goal in League 'B', ended with a record of 5 wins and a draw to amass 16 points. They had already secured promotion to League "A" of the Nations League and qualification to the 2021 Gold Cup. Guyana finished second with 10 points to make it to the qualifiers for the 2021 Gold Cup.

Antigua and Barbuda outscored Aruba 3-2 in the other Group 3 match on Monday. Aruba have been relegated to League 'C'.
