"How to Get Away with Murder" to end after season 6

ABC is closing the case of How to Get Away with Murder by announcing on Thursday that the upcoming sixth season will be its last.

The hit legal TV drama stars Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, a law professor who teaches a class reflective of the name of the show.

How to Get Away with Murder premiered in 2014, and helped to cement what ABC network dubbed its Thank God it's Thursday lineup, which also included Scandal and Grey's Anatomy.

Viola Davis has won a lead actress in a drama Emmy and has received two other nominations for her performance on the show.

The final season will focus on the class' last semester of law school and premieres September 26.
