Italian Reggae singer Alborosie releases Freedom & Fyah album

Tried and true Italian reggae singer, producer & multi-instrumentalist Alborosie’s 10th studio album, Freedom & Fyah was released digitally today by VP records.

Self-described as his most ‘uniformed’ album to date, the album features fellow artistes Protoje and Ky-mani Marley, and showcases rising artists Sandy Smith on the song “Carry On” and Sugus (former back up vocalist for Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs) on the track Zion Youth”

A video compilation will be periodically released throughout 2016 to promote the album which will include the video for the EDM influenced song fly 420 which is available for viewing on YouTube.

Fly 420 displays visually stirring images in celebration of international weed day, more popularly known as 4/20. This ode comes on the heels of the controversial decriminalization of marijuana in Jamaica, but after decades of oppression for those defiant of the system.

Though he was born in Sicily as Alberto D'ascola, Alborosie has resided in Jamaica for over a decade so his sound is influenced by the island’s roots and culture and is inspired by everyday life in Jamaica.

Self-professed as a “Retro Rasta Man”, the album’s sound is reminiscent of a very strong dub influence, with signs of dubstep and electronic music in some of the tracks and songs on the album promote the global message of universal love which transcends the borders of race, gender, and ethnicity

Freedom & Fyah will be available on compact disc on June 3 and in vinyl form by July 2016.
