Jamaica's Davina Bennett places 3rd in Miss Universe pageant

Miss Universe Jamaica Davina Bennett has left an indelible mark on the Miss Universe 2017 stage, emerging third place winner behind title holder South Africa and second place Columbia.

The event which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada saw a record 92 beauties competing for the title.

Bennett was a fan favourite online and in the event hall, with backstage host and model Ashley Graham supporting her for the win.

There were loud cheers from the audience when she greeted them in the Jamaican creole "Waah gwaan Las Vegas," to which host Steve Harvey responded, "Buyaka Buyaka!"

Voicing their dissatisfaction with her third place announcement, supporters' boos echoed in the auditorium.

Bennett's outstanding performance comes on the heels of a fifth place finish by Kaci Fennell at the 63rd staging in 2015 and the second place finish by Yendi Phillips in 2010.
