ITA unable to issue fitness certificates due to system challenges

By Racquel Porter

The Island Traffic Authority is reporting that its depots are currently unable to issue certificates of fitness to drivers due to challenges with its system.

The authority says motorists who go to renew their fitness certificates will have their vehicles checked and an indication made at the back of the expired or expiring fitness regarding the roadworthiness of their vehicles.

Those vehicles that are found to have issues will be given a list of defects that must be remedied.

The authority says the police's Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch has been made aware of the challenges.

It says it will continue to monitor the situation and will update the public accordingly.
