John Campbell's four-year ban reduced to 22 months

Jamaican and West Indies batsman John Campbell has received a reduction of two years and two months from his four-year ban, after the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) ruled in his favour, on Thursday.

CAS, in its 25-page ruling, noted that "the decision rendered by the Jamaica Independent Anti-Doping Tribunal on 6 October 2022 is set aside".

While CAS indicated that Campbell is found to have committed an anti-doping rule violation under Article 2.3 of the JADCO Rules, which speaks to evading, refusing, or failing to submit to sample collection, they ruled that the left-handed batsman is now "sanctioned with a 22-months period of ineligibility starting from
6 October 2022, with credit for any suspension already served".

The decision from the Switzerland-based court comes after it was delayed on six previous occasions

Campbell's legal team had argued for up to a three-year reduction based on an overall assessment of the sanction provision and the mitigating factors in the case.
