Kenya's defence chief Francis Ogolla
Kenya's defence chief Francis Ogolla and nine other senior military officers died in a helicopter crash on Thursday.
President William Ruto made the announcement in a statement, adding that two officers survived.
President Ruto said the Kenya Air Force has dispatched an air investigation team to establish the cause of the crash which occurred about 250 miles northwest of the capital Nairobi.
