Edwin Allen produces historic record in 4x100m at Penn Relays

Edwin Allen has become the first high school girls team to dip under 44 seconds for the 4x100 metres at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

The quartet of Kasheika Cameron, Kevona Davis, Shellece Clarke and Patrice Moody blitzed a spectacular 43.96 seconds to land the Championship of America event on Friday’s second day of competition at the 123rd staging of the prestigious relays at Franklin Field Stadium in Philadelphia.

They erased the previous record of 44.32 seconds which had been set by Vere Technical in 2004.

On the boys side, Calabar was fastest among the teams qualifying for Saturday’s Championship of America 4x100 metres.

The team of Tyreke Wilson, Christopher Taylor, Michael Stephens and Dejour Russell clocked 39.98 seconds to win their heat .

Kingston College, Jamaica College,  Excelsior, Cornwall College and Munro College have also qualified for the Championship of America event.
