Excelsior crush Manchester High to win Spalding Cup

Grace Shield champions Excelsior High are the ISSA Spalding Cup champions after defeating Headley Cup winners Manchester High by 185 runs on day two of the 3-day all island playoff at Melbourne Oval.

Set an improbable 402 runs for victory, Manchester High  were dismissed  for 217 in their second innings. Pajay Nelson put up the most resistance with 68, while Rhevon Morgane made 36. 

Excelsior had posted 255 in their second innings. Michael Clarke made 58 and Jamare Daley 36 against Brian Barnes 4-55 and Barrington Simpson 3-49.

Demarco Scott did the damage for Excelsior with 4-59, while Clarke returned to claim 4-64. The teams now turn their attention to the ISSA TVJ T20 competition which bowls off on Saturday.
