Fowler-Nembhard reaches 8000th goal milestone in Suncorp Super League

The world's number 1 rated goal-shooter and Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard achieved the milestone of 8000 Suncorp Super Netball League goals in Australia over the weekend.

Fowler-Nembhard had a 100 percent shooting accuracy with 50 goals from as many attempts, in leading former champions West Coast Fever to a 69-62 win over the Melbourne Mavericks.

Fowler-Nembhard has now scored 183 goals from 186 attempts so far this season for the fever who lead the table with maximum 12 points after 3 rounds of matches.

Fellow Jamaican Shanice Beckford who is playing her first season in the Suncorp League, weighed in with 10 goals from 11 attempts.

Another Sunshine Girl, Shimona Jok, formerly Nelson, who was utilized as the 11th player for the Mavericks this season when she replaced an injured teammate, led the scoring for the new franchise with 27 goals from 29 attempts. She switched to the goalkeeper position later in the contest. 

Elsewhere, veteran Sunshine Girl Romelda Aiken-George scored 43 goals from 48 attempts, as defending champions Adelaide Thunderbirds recorded a thrilling 60-56 extra time win over the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
